Have You Been Hurt by the Church? Learn Why Going to Church Is Worth It

The house of God is more than just a building; it is the place where His glory dwells and where His people gather to experience His presence. From the Old Testament Tabernacle to today’s churches, believers have always found strength and renewal in communal worship. However, statistics show a decline in church engagement, despite many Americans still holding a positive view of Jesus. In a world where negativity about the church dominates social media, we are called to renew our love for God’s house and the gathering of His people. As Psalm 84:4 reminds us, “Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.” Loving the house of God is an intentional choice, one that leads to growth in our relationship in Christ.

To truly love God’s house, we must first cultivate hearts that are open and receptive to His word. The parable of the seeds in Luke 8 highlights how a hardened heart can hinder spiritual growth, while Hebrews 3 warns against the dangers of bitterness and unbelief. To break up the hard ground, we must repent, seek reconciliation, and pray for the people of our church community. Relationships in the house of God are vital—joining small groups, sharing meals, and investing in friendships deepen our connection to both God and His people. When we choose to love His house, we experience the joy, strength, and support that come from dwelling in His presence together.
